Mahakam River & Kutai Park

Day 01: BALIKPAPAN, SAMARINDA, MAHAKAM RIVER CRUISE (-LD)

Upon arrival at Balikpapan airport, meeting service by your tour guide, and transfer to Samarinda harbor, to board houseboat and start your cruise on the mighty Mahakam river. Lunch and Dinner provided and overnight on houseboat.

Day 02: MUARA MUNTAI, JEMPANG LAKE, MANCONG, TANJUNG ISUY, MUARA PAHU (BLD)

Short sight seeing at Muara Muntai Wooden fishermens and trade village of the Kutai Tribe, then crossing Jempang Lake by motor canoe to Mancong, passing the color ful village Jantur of the Banjarese tribe as the native expert traders of Kalimantan. During the sail at the streched lake, you could see lots of Borneo endemic waterbirds, and local river life. Passing the Ohong Creek Rainforest you will see lots of wildlife as the proboscis monkey’s, and birds, Upon arrival at Mancong, welcomed with a traditional ceremony by the Dayaq Benuaq, when we visit one of the Oldest Dayak Longhouse of East Kalimantan in this settlement. Late afternoon by motor canoe to Tanjung Isuy for sightseeing and return to the cruiseboat for dinner and overnight. Houseboat will cruise upstream to Muara Pahu in the evening.

Day 03: MUARA PAHU, KEDANG PAHU RIVER, MOUNT BAYAN, TERBISAK, DOWNSTREAM (BLD)

Breakfast on board, cruise upstream the Kedang Pahu River by canoe for more then one hour by canoe to Mount Bayan to visit Terbisak Dayak village known of it’s Longhouse of the Benauq Dayak tribe which is still habituated by about 100 Dayak people living in their community house, and traditions of dry rise fielding and hunting, continue downstream by canoe, along the river bank, we will enjoy the exotic nature, and wildlife as otters, leave monkeys, endangered proboscis monkeys and birds, before we move to the delta of the Belowan river as a black water peat swamp forest land, with opportunities to spot the fresh water dolphins in the colliding stream of the Kedang Pahu and the Bolowan River. Afternoon, return to houseboat for downstream to Tenggarong.

Day 04: TENGGARONG, SANGATTA, KUTAI NATIONAL PARK (BLD)

Early in the morning downstream by houseboat to Tenggarong. Arrive at Tenggarong, visiting the former palace of Sultan Kutai Kartanegara. Where you will see the Sultan's impressive collection of heirlooms, ceramics, Dayak's art and culture items. Afterwards by car to Sangatta village, cruising up Sangatta River by motor canoe into the jungle of Kutai National Park. Upon Arrival at Morio Orangutan Jungle guesthouse, we will drop our stuff and direct start a jungle trek into the forest, looking for wildlife and Orangutans, which are completely wild. Lunch on the way, Dinner and overnight at Prefab Research station, hearing the sounds of the forest by night

Day 05: KUTAI RESERVE, DELTA SANGATTA RIVER (BLD)

After Breakfast by motor canoe to the mangrove forest at the Delta of the Sangatta River to spot Longnose Monkeys, Birds, Crocodiles and other wild in the Mangrove Forest. Return to Sangatta for lunch and afterwards transfer to Samarinda for overnight at Hotel.

Day 06: SAMARINDA, BALIKPAPAN (B--)

Breakfast, free at leisure, and enjoy the hotel atmosphere, until departure transfer to Balikpapan airport for your flight to your next holiday destination.
