Kalimantan is divided into five provinces North, East, South, Central and West. It has a total territory of roughly 28% of Indonesia’s total land area, but only 7% of the total population. Borneo Rain Forest is the oldest forest in the world, and best place to see orangutans and other wildlife creatures in their natural habitat. Kalimantan 's Jungle is home to sun bears, wild boars, clouded leopards, spotted cats, pythons, gibbons, deers, proboscis monkeys, hornbil, kingfisher, phaseants, and many other species of wild animals.
The diverstity of Kalimantan 's forest is enormous, from peat swamp forest in the coastal line of the Borneo Island, to the clouded rain forest in the mountainous interior of Kalimantan. Each kind of Forest have it's own eco-system.
Borneo is the only Island in the world with more then 50 dipterocarps giant tree species as teak, iron wood, ebony and even sandal wood trees. The flora of the Jungle is absolute amazing from pitcher plants, rare orchids, to the rafflesia and are common over the whole island.
