MAHAKAM RIVER CRUISE TOUR

Day 01:
BALIKPAPAN, SAMARINDA, MAHAKAM (LD)
Arrival at Balikpapan airport, meeting service, by
car transfer to Samarinda, Loa Janan harbor, boarding
the houseboat which will cruise upstream for an
exciting adventure on the Mahakam river. Meals provided and
overnight on houseboat.
Day 02:
MUARA MUNTAI, MANCONG, TANJUNG ISUY, MELAK (BLD)
Breakfast on board, harboring Muara Muntai Kutai Village, for a short
sight seeing at this Wooden village, proceed by motor-canoe
crossing the magic Jempang Lake by to Mancong Dayak village,
on the way you could see the low land Rain forest and wildlife
at Ohong creek like proboscis monkey’s and lots
of bird species. Arrival at Mancong, we will be welcomed with
a traditional ceremony by the Dayaq Benuaq tribe, in front of one of
the Oldest Dayak Longhouse of East Kalimantan, afternoonwe
continue to Tanjung Isuy village for sightseeing of the
Longhouse and traditional way of the Dayak tribe, before
we continue to Jantur Banjarese village at the mounth of the
Jempang lake, Jantur is a collor full village of the migrated south
Kalimantan Banjarese who trading the fish to the cities, continue to
Pela village to visit the RASI fresh water dolphin center, get
information of the endangered species, and when lucky we
can see the irrawady fresh water dolphins here before we board
the houseboat upstream Mahakam River to Melak. Dinner and overnight
at houseboat.
Day 03: MELAK, EHENG,
KERSIK LUWAY, UPSTREAM (BLD)
Breakfast, leave the houseboat for a day trip in
Melak, drive to Eheng by Jeep passing beautiful highland to
reach the old longhouse Eheng of the Dayak Tunjung Tribe,
continue to the forest of Kersik Luway, to explore the wild
orchid and pitcher plant species, if lucky the famous black
orchid can be seen. Afternoon to Ombau Asa waterfall, an exciting place
for swimming. Return to houseboat to cruise upstream

overnight on board of the houseboat
Day
04: MAHAKAM RIVER, DATA BILANG (BLD)
Breakfast at
houseboat, if water level is high we cruise till Data Bilang by
houseboat, otherwise by canoe to Dayak
Kenyah village, as a settle ment of the Dayak
Kenyah and the Dayak Bahau Tribe, with it's long ear lobs, and
collorful art design, sighseeing at their traditional village, where
they live from dry rise filed plantation, and forest hunt, lunch at
local restaurant, afternoon return to houseboat for dinner and overnight,
to cruise downstream Mahakam River.
Day
05: TENGGARONG, SAMBOJA ORANGUTAN (BLD)
Breakfast Arrive at Tenggarong, visiting the former palace of Sultan
Kutai
Kertanegara. Where you will see the Sultan's impressive collection of
heirlooms, ceramics, Dayak's art and culture items, cruise downstream
Mahakam to Samarinda, Lunch on board, upon arrival at Samarinda,
transfer by car to Samboja Jungle Lodge, for dinner and overnight.
Day 06: SAMBOJA LESTARI
REHABILITATION, BALIKPAPAN (BL)
After Breakfast, climb the tower for
an overview over the emerald jungle of Kalimantan, afterwards, we will
learn about the rehabilitation of orangutans and sun bears program of
Samboja Lestari BOSF foundation , visit the reforest project, and trek
the jungle, lunch at Samboja eco lodge, afterwards transfer to
Balikpapan airport for your flight to your next destination.
