    Orangutans in their natural habitat

Sebangau National Park is situated along the Sebangau River and consists of a vast area that is predominantly wetland and peat swamp forest. This unique ecosystem supports a wide range of wildlife, including several endangered species such as the proboscis monkey, gibbon, and orangutan, as well as a rich variety of bird species. The park is characterized by its abundant water bodies, which makes it challenging to access. Visitors typically need to use canoes and possess some level of navigation skill, as the route can vary depending on the season. In addition, the World Wildlife Fund has established research facilities within the park, which are intended to be utilized by visitors in the future to support the development of eco-tourism in the area.
